Fundamental Nonprofit Classes Series (In-Person)


The “Fundamental Nonprofit Classes Series” includes four in-person classes that guide Nonprofit Professionals through the process of starting, funding, managing, and sustaining 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations according to IRS guidelines successfully.

Four scenario-based classes

You are highly encouraged to complete the four scenario-based classes in the order listed below because if you take the classes below out of order, it could be challenging to understand the full scope of the information presented.

Class schedule, fee, and amenities 

We teach the classes on the third Saturday of each month from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. The classes are only $60 each and include an interactive lecture and demonstration, learning materials, networking with like-minded professionals, breakfast refreshments, and boxed lunches from McAlister’s deli (you choose the sandwich).


Starting Nonprofit Fundamentals – Class #1 of 4:

This class teaches you the 20 steps to starting a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization from scratch to enhance your communities. For example, you will learn how to choose the correct name for your nonprofit organization, how to secure the Employer Identification Number (EIN), how to write your Vision and Mission Statements, and so much more.

You will also learn how to complete the new “Form 1023: Application for Recognition of Exemption” that the IRS introduced in January 2020.

Funding Nonprofits Fundamentals – Class #2 of 4

Class Details: 

This class teaches you how to secure funding resources (money) to offer nonprofit services in your communities. Specifically, you will learn how to use diverse revenue generation strategies to secure funding such as tax-deductible investments from people, unrelated business income, fundraising proceeds, and grant funding.

Managing Nonprofits Fundamentals – Class #3 of 4 

This class teaches you how to manage nonprofit organizations successfully. Specifically, you will learn human resource management, financial management, and image management for your 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Sustaining Nonprofits Fundamentals – Class #4 of 4

This class teaches you how to sustain nonprofit organizations for the long term. Specifically, you will learn how to complete a SWOT Analysis and a SAR Report to assess the progress of your nonprofit organization and how to make adjustments successfully.

You will also learn how to complete a comprehensive succession plan.

Note:

SWOT means Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats

SAR means Situation, Action Results
